My Recent Speaking Event- This is what I experienced

I recently had the opportunity to speak and share my story at a gathering of Christian women in Morristown New Jersey. The event was truly such a blessing. I originally began sharing my story with other women years ago, but I was ahead of myself. My first priority and focus had to be the completion of my two books, Come Back Home and Heart of A Wife (a Bible Study Workbook).

Never did I imagine that it would take me a decade to finish them! Truthfully, doubt flooded my mind throughout the process, and it felt tedious. I thought, “maybe I wouldn’t finish them”, but ultimately my faith won and led me to complete both books. It is a renewed adventure to finally speak and share my testimony again in person.

At first, when I was invited to speak at the women’s group, I experienced yet even more doubt. I wondered if I could get up in front of these women, and share the painful details of my story all over again, without falling apart. My story is very personal and it is quite emotional for me to have to relive the painful past. Even so, I knew deep in my heart that after all these years, I was still being called to speak about it … and so I did. In my experience, sharing my story with these women was completely successful!

I really enjoyed experiencing an in-person shared connection with the women. At times, I have struggled with the impersonal interactions of my ministry on social media. This was such a blessing to be brought together with these very warm, caring and supportive women. Although, I will continue to have a presence on social media, to broaden my scope and reach, in order to help women.

However, the one question that I asked myself before I shared my story at this speaking event was, “Will they get it?” In other words, will they understand the meaning of my story and how it can relate to their own lives (especially as wives and mothers). I was completely reassured they understood the message, once I saw them listening intently, and holding onto every word, with tears welling up from inside.

With full-fledged emotions flowing from the expressions on their faces, and tears pouring down their cheeks, I watched God uncover something deep within their hearts. This was the moment of success and confirmation of my reason for speaking. It was everything I dreamed it would be in my vision to help women.

As for me, there is nothing, especially not social media, that could take the place of an in-person speaking event. I believe that I witnessed the hearts of the women transform right before my eyes. The question of whether or not I was called to speak to tell my story was finally put to rest. The impact of the message was a testament to God’s power at work. At the same time, I was very excited not only for having the opportunity to have shared my story, but to begin building relationships in person, and hopefully to have changed the hearts of these women in a profound way.

Thank you Creative Bible Study Group for inviting me and allowing me to share my story! It was truly an honor to connect with all of you.

“Come and hear, all of you who fear God, and tell what he has done for my soul” (Psalm 66:16).
