Overcoming Life’s Difficult Seasons with Faith

Are you in a season of a difficult trial? How are you acting? What is your attitude? Are you asking yourself when will this end? Have you lost hope and joy? Do you live in a constant state of worry, doubt, fear and impatience? If you are unhappy today, is it because you don’t have something you want? Rest assured you’re not alone. These are battles we all face. Yet, God is faithful and knows exactly what we need to overcome them.

The bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:1-10, there is a season for everything. In light of this, we know in times of trials we have the opportunity for spiritual maturity. When undergoing any kind of trial, it is important to focus on only the things God promises. This revives our hope in even the darkest hours.

We must avoid the temptation to dwell on how hard what we are going through is. Instead, think of the time of harvest when there is a reaping from what we’ve sown. We must move forward in hope for everything the future holds. Tough seasons can give us the ability to build a strong character. This will enable us to endure all God has called us to do. This includes an opportunity to do things different. We can take care of areas of our lives we should have before, but failed to. Then we will finally find freedom from the fears that held us back from God’s purposes.

We know that God works everything together for good. This is for those who love God, and are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). Knowing this truth helps us to embrace every season of our lives. It can open our hearts to learn the lessons God has for us in the midst of our troubles.

Our faithfulness is preparation for God’s blessings. This causes us to be still inside, peaceful, and content. Yes, even in the painful seasons we can master self-control. We can have the kind of peace that surpasses all understanding (Phillippians 4:7).

No matter what we have or don’t have, unless we learn to be content with what God’s given us at the time, we will not pass the test. Once we discover joy and satisfaction, to the point where we are not disturbed, we know we won the battle. This does not mean that we do not want to see a change, but we do not have to be unhappy every day until there is one. Fighting the season of testing and trials will only cause us to suffer.

Trusting in God, moment to moment, and day to day, we find a better way of living, and I mean living well. When we do what God has asked of us, even in the smaller tasks, it is a character of trustworthiness and reliability. Choosing to be faithful in the tasks, even the insignificant ones, will bring rewards. We are to follow through and not grow weary with our stewardship. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”.

We receive the promises of God through faith and patience. Anytime doubt comes upon us, we must say with conviction that God is working in our lives right now. He hears our prayers and wants to help. We can talk to God about anything that concerns us. He is able to do above and beyond all that we could ever hope, ask, or think, according to his power that is in us.

We will never be happy if we want to get that one thing we don’t have, and have made it more important than God. He wants more than anything to get involved in every area of our lives. Yet, we must put Him first. When we do so, God will open the door to meet all our needs.

No matter what stage in life we are in we are to be faithful in the everyday moments where God has placed us.
